Shelter Expandability
Purchased with an Aegis modular building is the ability to expand
the shelter at a later date. Expansions are done with modular
additions (in length) without interruption to online services
and is accomplished within one to two days. This capacity provides
obvious planning relief for growth.

Equipment Integration
When required, the client's equipment installation can be incorporated
at the Aegis' building facility rather than on-site. Aegis accepts,
warehouses, and insures the client's equipment, which is then
installed during the last phase or after the building assembly
but prior to delivery. This service streamlines the build-out
process, saving time and money.

Cooling Systems
Active Cooling Systems
Active air conditioning is a standard configuration for shelters,
and it is the most efficient solution when the heat to be dissipated
is high or when commercial power is available. The control of
the internal temperature is achieved by using various solutions,
which are selected according to the local environmental conditions,
the internal thermal load, and the equipment temperature constraints.
Aegis can provide shelters with several different active cooling
systems:
Heat Exchanger
Air Conditioning Units
Heaters (for low temperatures)
Passive Cooling Systems
Shelter operators around the world are now exploring the possibilities of passive cooling systems by using Phase Change Materials. By using this technology savings on power usage for conventional heating and cooling systems is achieved thus lowering the energy costs of the network. Aegis can provide complete design and implementation of passive cooling technology in its shelters

Grounding/Earthing Systems
Aegis offers Alltec
Corporation’s TerraBar® brand copper
bus bars. TerraBar® is available in a full
line of hole patterns and sizes along with all of the associated
mounting hardware and insulators. Along with standard hole sizes and patterns,
a full inventory of raw materials in various sizes to allows the
capability of providing fast turnaround time for any custom configurations. The
options of tin or nickel plating for any bars and capabilities
of providing TerraBars® with ground leads exothermically welded
to them are available
In addition to Alltec’s bus
bars for grounding/earthing requirements, Aegis offers TerraDyne® Electrolytic
Grounding Systems (EGS). TerraDyne® EGS is a multipurpose
grounding/earthing system that has been designed to provide long
term protection from lightning, electrical transients, static discharge,
electro-magnetic interference, and other electrical hazards. The
system has been designed for use in any type of soil condition. This
system is commonly used in cellular, radio and television broadcasting
sites, computer facilities, power substations, communication centers,
medical facilities and industrial plants. It is stable grounding
system that provides undisturbed long-term performance while maintaining
cost efficiency.
Complimenting Alltec Corporation's Electrolytic Gruonding System
is is TerraFill®. TerraFill® creates
a reliable, low resistance, electrical connection between the grounding
system and the earth. It is manufactured to be compatible with
copper grounding systems and standard field application methods.
It can be used in connection with grounding grids to minimize step
and touch potentials. In high resistivity soils, TerraFill® can
be used to produce acceptable grounding impedance within a reasonable
sized area. Manufactured from environmentally safe and stable products.
TerraFill® is self compacting, comes in easily transportable
50 lb (22.68 kg) bags, and can be easily installed by a single
person.

Lightning Protection
Aegis lightning protection equipment is provided
by Alltec
Corporation and includes its patented dissipation
terminals, TerraStat®.
TerraStat® lightning protection terminals are
designed to protect anything from the tallest broadcast towers
to the smallest remote scada system, and almost any type of structure
or facility in between. Aegis Building Technologies provides
the TS-500 & TS-510
terminals especially for broadcast and communications towers,
high mast lighting and other high-risk structures. Whatever your
requirements, Aegis has a product to fit the application. For
special applications, a custom design may be manufactured to
fit the site requirements.

Surge Protection TVSS
Proper grounding alone will not protect a facility from damage
due to surges, transients, or lightning. An effective combination
of lightning protection, facility grounding/earthing, equipment
bonding, and properly installed transient voltage surge suppression
(TVSS) devices, or surge protection devices (SPD), on all circuit
conductors maximizes total site protection. Aegis
Building Technologies comprehensive site
protection approach rests on good grounding, protection from
direct lightning strikes, and properly implemented surge protection. Aegis relies
on Alltec
Corporation’s PowerTrip® devices
to complete this strategy. PowerTrip® devices
are available for AC and DC power, telephone/ data, and RF cabling
protection. Aegis provides technical assistance on selecting
the appropriate TVSS for your application and the expert installation
that is crucial to protection success.

Power Distribution Unit (PDU)
The Power Distribution Unit (PDU) supplies complete AC power
management for Outdoor Telecom Installations. PDU’s ranging
from 5 KVA to 25 KVA are used for power management at site. PDU’s
also manage voltage, phase selection, surge protection and distribution & control
of safety alarm. PDU’s require lower maintenance compared
with traditional mechanisms.
The product intelligently controls running of Air Conditioners
while Mains Power is available and conserves running of costly
diesel generators in the absence of the regular supply of electric
power.
The PDU is a comprehensive AC power supply and management system,
in a single compact rack having following key features:
Protection
against lightning and voltage
surges
AC
distribution
Alarms & Sensors
management including fire
& smoke
alarm
Static
Voltage stabilization
Intelligent
phase selection
Wide
input voltage range
Network

Communication Tower
A guyed, monopole, or self-supporting tower, constructed as
a freestanding structure or in association with a building, other
permanent structure or equipment, containing one or more antennas
intended for transmitting or receiving television, AM/FM radio,
digital, microwave, cellular, telephone, or similar forms of
electronic communication.
Guyed Tower
A communication tower that is supported, in whole or in part,
by guy wires and ground anchors is a Guyed Tower.
The substantial footprint of a guyed towers allows them to
be constructed to substantial heights with greater loading
than both Monopoles and Self Support towers (television towers),
making them ideal for large microwave, broadcast and LMR applications.
Guyed towers require components such as guy wires, thimbles, guy
brackets, pier pins, anchor rods and turnbuckles.
Lattice Tower (Self supporting)
A self-supporting three or four sided, open, steel frame structure
used to support telecommunications equipment is a Lattice Tower.
Lattice Towers are designed for PCS/Cellular and point-to-point
communication and have a larger footprint than Monopoles,
their structural design often enables them to carry more wind
loading at a lower cost than monopoles.
These tower are normally constructed using hot dipped heavy
duty galvanized steel.
Monopole Tower
A communication tower consisting of a single pole, constructed
without guy wires and ground anchors is a Monopole Tower. These
towers are made of structural pipes & plates and are easily
installed due to their precisely fitted connections. The connections
allow each pole to be modified according to height and antenna
configurations.
Monopoles are an ideal solution for many broadband, microwave and
cellular applications in urban and suburban areas where space is
a premium and aesthetics are a must.
